Was the Philadelphia Experiment just one of those events that never happened, or an elaborate government cover-up according to conspiracy theorists? The US Navy claims there was no such experiment.
About the Philadelphia Experiment
The Philadelphia Experiment was an alleged naval military experiment which took place sometime around October 28, 1943 at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard, in Philadelphia, PA. The experiment supposedly rendered the USS Eldridge, a destroyer escort warship, invisible for a short period of time. Destroyer escorts were employed mainly for anti-submarine warfare.
Some proponents of the Philadelphia Experiment believe that the USS Eldridge actually teleported, 10 minutes back in time, to Norfolk Virginia before reappearing in Philadelphia. Norfolk is approximately 200 miles away from Philadelphia.
The Office of Naval Research contends that the legend got started based on the routine task of demagnetizing or "degaussing" the warships so as to be "invisible" to magnetic mines and torpedoes. The ships were still visible to the naked eye and radar.
Klingon Bird-of-Prey Warship
Hey, if the Klingons can cloak their birds-of-prey from Starfleet Command, why can't the US government make a simple destroyer disappear for a brief period time?

No blog about conspiracy theories and secret societies would be complete without a mention of the Knights Templar. I'm not going to get into a detailed discussion about them at the present time. I just wanted to list a few of the books, in my personal library, that mention the Knights Templar.
These books just touch on the subject of the Knights Templar. Conspiracy theorists believe that modern day Freemasons have a direct link back to the Knights Templar of medieval times. Most modern day Freemasons will deny any such link. Interesting thoughts.

What is SETI@home?
SETI@home is a scientific experiment that uses Internet-connected
computers in the Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence (SETI). You
can participate by running a free program that downloads and analyzes
radio telescope data.
A few years ago, I used to run the SETI@home program on my desktop computer. That was a really old computer. I'm thinking about setting it up again on my current system which is running Windows Vista.
How SETI@home will use your computer
When you run
SETI@home on your computer, it will use part of the computer's CPU
power, disk space, and network bandwidth. You can control how much of
your resources are used by SETI@home, and when it uses them.
The work done by your computer contributes to the goals of SETI@home, as described on its web site. The application programs may change from time to time.
I'd like to hear from anyone that is using the SETI@home program on their computer.

One of my favorite websites is the SETI Institute. SETI stands for Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence. ET phone home? Just kidding, SETI is a serious, scientific organization.
According to the SETI website: "The Mission of the SETI Institute is to explore, understand and explain the origin, nature and prevalence of life in the universe. We believe we are conducting the most profound search in human history - to know our beginnings and our place among the stars."
The Institute comprises 3 centers, the Center for SETI Research, the Carl Sagan Center for the Study of Life in the Universe and the Center for Education and Public Outreach. The institute was founded in 1984, and currently employs over 150 scientists, educators and support staff.
